Noraly Hendriks
singer-storyteller | musician | poet
Whether you ask a fiction writer, a neuroscientist or a Buddhist, they all agree that stories matter. There’s a story in how we move, breathe, love, work and create.
Inspired by the forces of nature and the omnipresent change of the seasons, Noraly writes hers.
The songs may seem reflective at first, but once you let the music soften your walls, you’ll see they invite you to feel rather than to think.
While her first EP was a collection of mostly personal stories about founding your voice (both as a human and artist), her debut album (currently in production) will touch on broader subjects, as she believes art holds the power to open conversations, doors and definitely hearts.
Working with her band, their merged genres lead to a bold, illustrative sound that feels grounded yet floating. With lyrics that dance between poetic metaphors and raw truths, and a growing live set infused with spoken word, Noraly evolves beyond the singer-songwriter that used to be “hesitant to sing” (from Accidentally Happy).
“In an (online)society that feels very fast, it can be challenging to take time. While doing so with this album, all the different phases, made me realize that I create because I believe it’s the way to move forward. And forward doesn't always mean more advanced, rather a world with less sharp edges.
To me, art has proven itself to be an Antidote.
It opens my heart, starts the conversations I’m afraid to have and taught me to find poetry in the everyday. I hope some of that meaning will ripple”.
